The Xiaomi M365 Pro is the upgraded version and is most likely the best selling electric scooter in Europe. But is the best selling electric scooter necessarily the best? With so many scooters to choose from making the right decision can be extremely difficult.
There are many reasons why the Xiaomi M365 and the updated Xiaomi M365 Pro are the best selling electric scooters in Europe. They are both fantastic all around commuting scooters with a very reasonable price tag. Xiaomi have done a really good job at understanding what type of electric scooter the vast majority of people want. The M365 Pro represents exactly that – an entry-level electric scooter that ticks all the boxes.
Why The Xiaomi M365 Pro Is The Best Selling Electric Scooter in Europe
With the M365, Xiaomi found a winning formula and they have built on the winning formula with the Pro version. The Pro version has many upgrades when compared to the original version, such as:
- Improved braking
- Increased range per charge
- A wider deck for added comfort
- Improved display, which makes it easier to see the speed and other stats
- More powerful motor for tackling hills
The top speed of the M365 Pro is 25 km/h or 15.5 mph. The 474 watt hour battery pack has improved the range from 30 km to 45 km. So the Pro version has an extra range of 15 km, which is a big improvement.
The 300 Watt motor with 600 Watts of peak power has improved the acceleration and hill climbing abilities of the Pro version as well. These slight improvements in the motor and battery are very noticeable and significant.
The information display, that was a big problem for the original M365 electric scooter, has been improved as well. It shows essential information, such as battery status, speed, lights, riding mode, error status and Bluetooth connectivity.
Although the Pro is 15% heavier than the original (14.2 kg compared to 12.5 kg) it is not so significant. The M365 Pro is also about 30-40% more expensive but considering the improvements, especially the improvements in range, the price is certainly worth it.
The front KERS brake and the rear disc brakes have really good stopping power when compared to other similar electric scooters. It comes to a full stop at a speed of 24 km/h in just 4.6 meters. The cable-controlled breaks are activated by a single brake lever. The brake activation is smooth and well-designed. The strength of the KERS braking can be adjusted with the Bluetooth-connected app and when it is at max setting, the effect is great.
The Xiaomi M365 has always been really nimble and smooth to ride, due to the light weight and 8.5-inch pneumatic tires, The Pro version has even better ride quality due to the 1 cm wider and 5.1 cm longer deck.
The portability of the Xiaomi M365 Pro is decent. The weight of 14.2 kg and 1080 cm x 460 cm x 490 cm folded dimensions make it possible to carry the scooter for short distances. The only major issue is that although the stem folds the handlebars don’t. This makes it a bit of a challenge to store the scooter in public transport for example. But the folding mechanism is very simple and reliable.
This is not the cheapest scooter around and neither should it be. It’s sturdy and certainly strong enough to bear my 107kg weight, and it zips off from a standing start with alacrity. The build quality seems good and the paint and fittings are of a decent quality. Range is okay, but does diminish significantly if sports mode is used. You’ll not run out of battery without warning though, as power reserves are displayed on a neat little dashboard. Overall, a competent and decent scooter for the price.
