Should I buy an electric scooter?

It is a question that more and more people are asking themselves due to the skyrocketing popularity of electric scooter rentals. Why rent an electric scooter if you can buy one for yourself? There are many reasons why you should seriously think of buying an electric scooter and this post I will quickly explain why buying an electric scooter is a good idea.

Top Reasons to Buy an Electric Scooter

Electric Scooter Are Portable

Or at least most commuting electric scooters are portable and portability is one of the main reasons why people love e-scooters. Unlike many other assisted forms of transport, electric scooters are practical and simple.

There is no need to worry about licenses or insurances with electric scooters, unlike with motorbikes or electric cars. Push bikes are also a great alternative but are often too large, needing to be chained up and therefore do not classify as being portable.

Most electric scooters for commuting, such as the popular Xiaomi M365, can easily be folded and are light enough to be carried just about anywhere. When ever you need your e-scooter, you just unfold it and off you go in just seconds.

E-scooters are quiet!

There are many benefits of living in a crowded city environment but noise pollution is not one of them. When moving around with conventional forms of transportation then noise pollution is inevitable. But electric scooters are quiet and will get you from point A to B just as fast, or even faster than a motorbike or car.

Eco Friendly Transportation

Another advantage of electric scooter is that they are eco-friendly. People are very aware of the environmental pollution and every solution that helps to reduce pollution is very welcomed. E-scooters use little electricity and don’t emit any emissions.

Gets People Outside

The sedentary lifestyle that many of us are living is a very serious health concern. A lot of individuals to work in a car, sit in an office all day and then drive back home in a car. Spending so much time sitting inside is not good at all.

Although electric scooters don’t require much physical effort to drive then at least you get to breath some fresh air, improve your balance and even exercise your core a bit.

Increased Mobility for People with Health Problems

Most of us want to buy an electric scooter for convenience and fun but some people actually need an electric scooter to move around. They are a great alternative for cars, especially in city environments where commuting distances are short.

It is very hard for some people to walk, pedal a bike over longer distances or use public transportation. This is why electric mobility scooters are such a good solution for a lot of people. The more disabled people are able to feel independent the better it is for them.

So if you are asking, Should I buy an electric scooter when being disabled? then yes. It gives you so much more freedom.

Electric Scooters Are Lots of fun?

Although most e-scooters are not designed for going very fast, used off road or having lots of power, then there are scooters that are designed for speed. Some electric scooters can go up to 50 mph, be ridden off road and have a battery that lasts for 90 miles and more, such as the DUALTRON X2 ELECTRIC SCOOTER!

If you want to have some fun and have money to spend then why not buy one a scooter just like that. Can you imagine having an electric scooter that has 6,720 Watts.

Should I Buy an Electric Scooter? Yes, But Do Your Homework!

There are also times when buying an electric scooter is not the best idea. Before you decide to buy you should think about what type of scooter you need and how much money you are willing to spend.

A lot of scooter models, especially cheaper models, have a poor battery, don’t go as fast as promised or simply don’t work at all. The more research you do the better.

Do you need a lightweight, foldable scooter for commuting? Do you prefer to ride on a scooter with a seat? Or do you prefer a more powerful and faster scooter for some weekend fun? Also look at the reviews and ratings certain models get.

Obviously the last thing you want is to spend a lot of money on a scooter that ends up being a disappointment.

Should I Buy an Electric Scooter? When Not to Buy

There are also some reasons for not buying an electric scooter. In order to comfortably ride around with a e-scooter, you need really good roads. If you live in a city or town that doesn’t have roads smooth roads, traffic free lanes or cycling paths then commuting with a scooter can be dangerous and not practical.

Also an average electric scooter has a maximum range of 15-20 miles. If your workplace is outside this range then a car, motorbike or a bicycle is a more practical option.

Another reason why you shouldn’t buy an electric scooter is because it reinforces a sedentary lifestyle. The vast majority of people don’t get enough physical activity and using an electric folding bike or scooter to commute does not help. For health reasons a bicycle is a healthier option.
